Brett Shaves, a Principal and Co-Founder of Urban Village, has over 20 years of real estate experience covering corporate real estate, development, finance and syndication encompassing all product types. Over the last decade Brett has specialized on syndications, entitlements, and development for residential, condo, and multi-family projects in the Western US, completing over $80 million in transactions as a principal, specifically in California, Nevada, Montana and Hawaii.
From 1996 – 1999 Brett was involved with the divestiture of over $400 million in real estate through a Citicorp funding program as a Director of Real Estate for Chevron and negotiated and acquired over 100 franchise and supply contracts encompassing FTC and merger implications.
From 1999 – 2008 Brett was the President of Pacific Coast Development, a California based real estate development company that focused on West Coast and Hawaii “for sale” product, primarily condo and single-family subdivisions. During this time, Brett successfully acquired, entitled and developed 13 projects as well as owned and operated an office building in Newport Beach.
From 2008 – 2011 Brett provided international development consulting for a range of clients on projects including a master planned community in Hoi An, Vietnam, a resort in Phan Thiet, Vietnam and a hospital complex in Ho Chi Minh City. Brett is also the President of Emerald Pacific Corp, a California based General Contractor that focuses on commercial tenant improvements for fortune 500 companies.
Brett graduated from UCLA, Sigma Chi, resides in Newport Beach with his wife and children and is an active member of St. Andrew’s Church. Brett was appointed to the General Plan Committee, City of Newport Beach in 2002 and has been a member of ULI, BIA and ICSC.
